Did you know that the first American in space is from Derry? Alan B Shepard was born in East Derry on November 18th, 1923.
We got to visit the Derry History Museum for a special tour of the Alan B. Shepard room. The room is filled with memorabilia from Alan B. Shepard from his days at Pinkerton to when he launched into space all the way to his death in 1998.
If you’d like to check out the Alan B Shepard room and the Derry History Museum as a whole, they are open Wednesday nights 6pm-7:30pm. People 13 and older can even join the Junior Historians Club.
