On September 30th 2022, Chief Edward B. Garone officially retired after 50 years as Derry’s Chief of Police. This momentous occasion was celebrated by the entire community and surrounding law enforcement and officials in a vehicle parade at the Derry Boy’s and Girl’s Club.
Chief Garone has been a cornerstone of the Derry community for over 50 years. At Chief Garone’s 50th anniversary celebration, it was revealed that the Derry Police Precinct will be renamed to the Chief Edward B. Garone Building. A dedication, which was celebrated on June 29th 2022.
