Robert Frost wasn't the only educator to grace Derry with their knowledge. Mary Lyon, a pioneer in women's education, taught at Adams Female Academy in Londonderry, NH from 1824-1827. Her salary was $5 a week, plus board. Lyon left Adams Female Academy and founded her own school, Ipswich Female Seminary. She would later become the founder and first principal of Mount Holyoke Female Seminary in 1837, which would become Mount Holyoke College.
